Dr. Andrew Ritting Joins Bucks County Orthopedic Specialists

Doylestown, PA – Bucks County Orthopedic Specialists (BCOS) is expanding their practice with the addition of hand and upper extremity specialist, Andrew Ritting M.D. Following years of highly specialized training and experience, Dr. Ritting is coming home to Bucks County to provide orthopedic care, including minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures, rotator cuff surgery, shoulder replacement, fracture care, trauma care, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, surgery for arthritis, and microsurgery for BCOS patients.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Ritting back to Bucks County and to our practice,” says BCOS CEO Randall Gross. “As a former Central Bucks student-athlete, who went on to obtain top-tier medical training and experience, Dr. Ritting combines our core values of personal connection, elite-level training, and state-of-the-art medical care. Adding Dr. Ritting to our staff allows us to expand our capabilities and meet the continued demand for our excellent brand of orthopedic care in the community.”

After graduating from Central Bucks East high school, Dr. Ritting went on to Wake Forest University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He also attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where he was awarded Alpha Omega Alpha status.  He completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed an orthopedic hand and upper extremity fellowship at the University of California-Irvine. Throughout his career, Dr. Ritting has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and given numerous lectures and orthopedic presentations.

“My interest in orthopedics began to grow after sustaining a serious knee injury playing soccer,” explains Dr. Ritting. “I soon found myself volunteering at Doylestown Hospital, which only confirmed my interest in a career in medicine. Professionally and personally, it is particularly gratifying to be able to return to the place where my passion for orthopedics began.”

As a surgeon, Dr. Ritting is drawn to the complex anatomy and meticulous technique required to perform hand and upper extremity surgery. And while he enjoys performing surgery, Dr. Ritting has a holistic view of treating injuries and chronic issues. “As a physician, I take an integrated approach to care that prioritizes preventative measures and early diagnostics,” he says. “I believe in conservative management, patient education, proactive rehabilitation, and early return to activity. And when surgery is needed, I aim for maximum results from minimally invasive techniques.”

Dr. Ritting will see patients at all three of BCOS office locations and will perform surgeries at both the Bucks County Surgical Suites and Doylestown Hospital.
